Rep. Marron, Sen. Bennett, and Town of Westville Host Event to Support Ukrainians During Conflict

SPRINGFIELD… Upon hearing the harrowing news of the ongoing military conflict against the innocent Ukrainian people, State Representative Mike Marron (R-Fithian), Sen. Scott Bennett (D-Champaign), and Village of Westville have decided to team up locally in an effort to support the people of Ukraine.

Rep. Marron said, “You can head over to St. Mary’s Catholic church located at 231 North State St, Westville, IL 61883 next Saturday, March 19, 2022 between 8 am-2 pm to drop off a monetary donation. The town and church will be collecting donations to send to humanitarian charities in support of families in Ukraine.”

“Here in the United States we know our freedom is far from a given, and we all consistently fight to protect our shared values of peace and democracy. This local event is a great way to show support to the people in Ukraine battling one of their toughest fights against tyranny and destruction,” said Marron.

Sen. Bennett said, “Those who have remained in Ukraine are in desperate need of supplies and I’m proud to partner with Rep. Marron and Westville to give folks an opportunity to donate. We encourage everyone that is willing and able to consider donating these vital supplies in support of Ukrainian families this Saturday.”

Mayor of Westville Mike Weese said the, “Village of Westville would like to invite all residents of Westville and neighboring communities to come out and help Ukrainian people. Any small or large donations would be appreciated.”
