Danville… State Representative Mike Marron (R-Fithian) released the following statement after former Chief of Staff to longtime, and now indicted, Speaker of the House Michael J. Madigan was found guilty of lying to the Federal government in the government’s investigation into Madigan’s corruption.
Rep. Marron said, “Since I came into the General Assembly in 2019, I have been a vocal critic of pervasive corruption and weak ethics laws in Springfield. I am not surprised by this guilty verdict today, because the former Speaker’s corrupt regime was the worst kept secret in Illinois.”
“I continue to stand ready and willing to collaborate with all of my colleagues on real ethics reform because the people of Illinois have had enough of this corruption. It is time to put transparency, trust, and ethics at the heart of our government,” said Marron.
